Error 401
Our end users are seeing the following error when they go to a page with the Relevant Documents web part.

Failed to retrieve a license file from the resource path http://serverl/_layouts/bWareTech.UserDocs/bWareTech.License.xml. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

I dont see this error as an administrtor.

Re: Error 401
Adam,

Can you answer the following for me please. Have/did you run an IIS RESET after the license file was installed on each front-end server in your Farm? What type of authentication is your Farm using? Windows, Forms or Single Sign On? Can you also tell me what account is being used for the IIS Application pool for one of the Web applications that is producing the message?

Re: Error 401

I did not reset IIS. We are using windows authentication.   The app pool is running as a domain account.

Re: Error 401
Adam,

If you perform an IISRESET on the server does it supress the message? If not, can you verify that a user having trouble can actually navigate to the license file from their web browser to http://serverl/_layouts/bWareTech.UserDocs/bWareTech.License.xml. All users, including Anonymous users, should be able to browse directly to the license file without issue.

Re: Error 401
Spoke with Adam on the phone and we were able to resolve this issue. When Adam copied his new bWareTech.License.xml license file over the top of the TRIAL license, the copied file took on some unique NTFS rights. He reset the rights to inherit from the parent folder bWareTech.UserDocs and the message was suppressed.
