What's New List Filter Provider Web Part
for Windows SharePoint Services 3 and MOSS 2007

| The What's New List Filter Provider Web Part is a add-on or companion product to our What's New Web Part. Use it to create a filter of specific Lists from the current site, the current site and its sub-sites, or the entire site collection. When placed on a standard Windows SharePoint Services web part page and connected to our What's New Web Part, the What's New Web Part will only display results from the Lists defined in the filter. Filters can be a simple as a single List, or as complex as multiple Lists from different Sites each of a different Content Type. |

Overview
- Navigate the Site hierarchy using the familiar SharePoint TreeView control to locate Lists from any Site or sub Site within a Site collection.
- Build filters that contain a single List or dozens of Lists.
- Build Content Type specific filters. Create a filter to track all Tasks in a Site, a Site or sub site, or within the entire Site collection.
- Filters may include Lists from any Site in a Site Collection.
- Create filters with different Content Types...Announcements and Blog Posts from Human Resources and Documents from Accounting.
- Filters are stored as properties by individual user.
- Filter can be consumed by multiple web parts on the same web part page.
- Filters may be created from standard SharePoint List Content Types or custom types.

Product Installation
- What files do we install in your SharePoint environment and where are they installed?
We install 5 files, the web part assembly, a license assembly, an XML license document, a 14X16 pixel branding image used in the Web Part Gallery and a 28X31 pixel branding image used in the Site Collection Features administration page. Our assemblies bWareTech.WhatsNewFilter.dll and bWareTech.License.dll are installed in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC), and our XML document bWareTech.License.xml is copied into a sub-directory of the default SharePoint wpresources directory. We install our branding images in a sub-directory of the default image folder of your SharePoint installation with a URL path of \_layouts\images\bWareTech and a physical path of <System Drive>\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\IMAGES\bWareTech.
- How much drive space is required for the installation?
As of 07/13/2009 the physical size of each of the 5 files installed into your SharePoint installation are as follows:

- Can I install the What's New List Filter Provider Web Part assembly without the included installer?
Yes, but it does require several more steps to complete the web part installation. Please see the What's New List Filter Provider Install Guide in the Downloads section for full details.

Product FAQ's
- Does this web part support web part connections?
Yes. Our What's New List Filter Provider Web Part implements the IWebPartTable interface and can be a connected provider to multiple web parts on the same web part page. When connected to a valid Consumer this web part passes the structure and data types listed in the table below.
Column Definitions:
Scope (String): Recognized values...Current, Recursive, SiteCollection
Name (String): The name of the Content Type
ListId (String): Any valid List Guid converted to a String
ContentType (String): Recognized SPListTemplateTypes (Content Types)...100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 115, 119, 120, 150, 201, 202, 201, 207, 211, 301, 302, 303 and 1100. Beginning with version 2009.3.01, custom or non-standard Content Types are supported. Please see the Windows SharePoint Server 3.0 SDK documentation for more information.

- Do DEMO product downloads expire?
Yes. DEMO download packages contain a temporary license key that contains an expiration date. Generally, the expiration date for a DEMO product will be at least 15 days out from the day you download the product, and no more than 30 days.
- How is the What's New List Filter Provider Web Part licensed?
Our What's New List Filter Provider Web Part is licensed by a single Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Farm installation. License a Farm and run the web part on any number of SharePoint extended Web applications or Site Collections in the Farm.
- What types of licenses are available?
DEMO and Permanent licenses are available for this product. We generate DEMO licenses with expirations regularly and include them in our DEMO download packages. A DEMO license will have a minimum of 15 days and a maximum of 30 days of use before expiration. Permanent licenses are issued within 2 business days of receipt of the Farm ID's you wish to license. Permanent licenses never expire and are good for the life of the product.
- Can I bank licenses that I am not ready to use?
Yes. You may purchase Farm licenses in quantity to reduce costs, then request license keys as required. Your banked licenses will never expire.

We compile our What's New List Filter Provider in both native 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Please make sure that you download the appropriate package(s) for your Windows SharePoint Services processor environment. Documentation is NOT included in product downloads, and is provided as a separate download so that you may select the best format for your needs.
NOTICE! Release 2009.3.02 or greater updates the web part licensing mechanism to Farm based licensing and will render any current Site Collection or Web Application licenses invalid! All Customers should contact Sales@bWareTech.com for a free upgrade to a new Farm license.

The web part is fully functional and can be used to test its many features and configuration options in test or production environments. However, if you prefer to run a message free TRIAL of our web part, simply fill out our License Key Request form and we will email you a no hassle 10-day license key to use on as many Farm installations as you wish. Please note that once the 10-day TRIAL license expires the web part will return to DEMONSTRATION MODE.
